Which would you rather have? A >60inch plasma/LCD TV? Or a Projector?
Answer:
Projectors are amazing in picture quality..I would choose that over any LCD/DLP any day.
It's more reliable too.
Plasma just doesn't cut it.It's too unreliable.
When the NEWER LCD/DLPs come out with the LED/Laser lamps, THEN they'll give the PROJECTORs a run for their money!
Projector. much easier to carry.
i would rather get a LCD TV than a projector because i think LCD TV's have better picture
The brightness picture quality of a projector is limited by the fact that you use a light bulb and you scale up a "small" picture.
(Picture is not so bright, etc.)
If you had no constrain on cost, you would buy a big plasma/LCD
Projector is the best option. For a 60 inch. version you are looking at a plasma, but Plasma has a small problem of pixels getting burnt in long run.
Also if you choose a good projector and a screen. it can blow plasma picture clarity.
If I were to go big, I were to go with a 60" Plasma system.
Reasons
1- Cost, relatively speaking when compared to LCD it is a lot cheaper at that size. But when compared to a decent projector I will give you that, that projectors are cheaper.
2- But when you compare the lifespan of a projector to LCD and Plasma systems, Plasma and LCD last you a lot longer. They both would last you around 60,000 hours lifespan. Whereas a projector is at best around 4,000 hours and the lamps will cost you around $300-$400 a pop. Unless this is a really dedicated movie room it is not worth the while.
3- Plasmas still have the best colour range when compared to LCD. LCD has a tendency to not show standard def pics as clearly yet (or rather should I say take a look at the skin tone colours of any LCD panel versus plasma panel on standard definition, you will see what I am talking about)
4- In order of room lighting, projectors have to be in the darkest room lighting, Plasma is about average room lighting and then LCD in well-lit rooms.
Ultimately the decision is yours, but in relation to what you are getting and how much you are spending Plasma would be a better choice.
LCD Sony HDTV Grand Wega 42", all the way !! Plasma is costly to operate, because of the energy needed to energize the bubble like orbs behind the outside screen to give you the picture, and those little bubbles are filled with phosphorous gas. I can't really comment on projectors, except to say unless you have a big enough room, and a big wall with nothing on it, it will be iffy. My choice is LCD, all the way, 1st choice-SONY, then Samsung. It's simply the most well proven technology to date. All the others, like DLP, Plasma just don't have the track record.,& don't get fooled by HD-READY TVs. They do not have a built in HD tuner, they are just READY for one.
