Whats the difference between a plasma screen TV and a flat screen?
Answer:
Before LCD and Plasma TV's became commonly available, manufacturers of tube (CRT) televisions began changing their designs to a flatter (not bulging/curving out so much in the middle) front glass design which reduced the amount of distortion of the picture (and looked prettier and sleeker).
And they called these "flat screen CRTs".
But now you see sellers of LCD and Plasma TV's emphasizing their thin design with the same term, "flat screen", as in "flat screen plasma" or "flat screen lcd". Which is redundant, since plasma and LCD TV's are ALL "flat screen".
Occasionally, you'll see "flat screen" by itself in ads, which is really confusing without a picture of the TV. If somebody is talking about a "flat screen" TV, make sure to ask if it's CRT, LCD, or plasma.
