i am receiving mixed messages on how to install this.
I being told that I need to hook it up to a dvd box to have the hd. I want to put it on the wall so I DO NOT want a receiver box below the tv. Is there anyway around this. it has a built in digital turner what does this all mean? Please help . signed--- the dummy of all this :

In most places, the HD feed comes from the cable company.
I was in the same position as you. I have the cable box and dvd player in a cabinet under the wall mounted tv. The cable runs into the hd box. The wires (hd box and dvd player) come out of the cabinet, into a hole in the wall behingd the cabinet, up the inside of the wall and out of a hole behind the wall mounted tv. All you see is a nice wall mounted tv and a cabinet beneith with the HD box, dvd player on the shelves, with everything else (dvd's) on shelves behind cabinet doors.
Both holes are actually outlet boxes with covers. I installed a dedicated outlet behind the tv to hide the power feed.
It's time consuming but worth every penny for a clean look.
You dont need a set top box. Your tv has the HD tuner built in so you can recieve all your local stations and HD broadcast stations over the air. Of course thats all you will get unless you hook up cable or Direct/Dish HD service. You may want to hook up "rabbit ears" for better reception if needed.
And yes you will want a HD dvd player to watch your movies in HD to take full advantage of the nice TV you have.
