720p or 1080i?

The fact is that earlier HD came along, adjectives TVwas interlaced, and no one ever complained. Now everyone berates 1080i because it's merely sending half the picture surrounded by any given frame, but it does it usually around 60 hertz so it's too fast too see anyway.
I would suggest that if your TV have a good chipset after it should be able to de-interlace next to no visible artefacts contained by the resulting picture, hence use 1080i. If however you see noise or striping appearing (typically on objects moving in a flash across the screen from departed to right (or right to left)) then use 720p.
Personally I hold been using 1080i for in the region of 8 months and have see such de-interlacing artefacts about twice. So for the sacrifice of 2 transient distortions contained by 8 months, I get a greater resolution image ... I have an idea that that's a fair trade.
If you enjoy a 1080p TV, then you might aswell hand over the 1080 lines it wants, otherwise it requests to upscale a 720 image to fit the difficult res. Frankly, THAT is more likley to cause a poor aspect picture than 1080i.
720p delivers 720 lines of resolution per frame where on earth 1080i deliverers 540 lines per frame so 720p, in premise, is a better image. In the genuine world you won't see a lot of difference.
