Is my tv broke?
I don't want to spend $500+ and I only have 28"long x 22"height on my entertainment center/bookshelf. What are my options?

Your power supply is in " safety mode " a fault has been detected and recognised therefore the set switched off, then it switches back on again.add infinitum. The fault could be anywhere in the set , Professional help is indicated. Cheers Pete
your tv is DEF. broken. buy a new one and burry the old one. its time to get over your poor tvs death =D
It sounds to me like your tv is toast.. repair would cost you anywhere from $30 to over $100 depending on the problem .. it could be anything from an IC chip to the cross over or power supply so many thing can go wrong I can't say any more with out seeing it
With all the new LCD and Plasma tv's out now lots of people are selling there old sets Im sure if you check the want adds in your local paper you can find a good deal on a used one ..
There are fuses inside that can go too but unless you know what your doing its best not to take it apart .. a color tv can kill you , touch the wrong thing and your going to get over 25,000 volts running through your body SO beware
Probably something in your power supply. Average cost is 250-300. Probably not going to be 500. Try unplugging it and plugging it back in first.
If you bought it from walmart, and got a year out of it, your doing better than most.
Buy a Sony and it will last.
