Does contrast ratio really situation?

Does contrast ratio really matter on and lcd hd tv? I be wondering cause im going to buy a lcd hd tv and i saw plentiful diff. ratios... Would a 1,000:1 be any worse than a 1,200:1 or a 7,000:1? Which will be best for a Xbox 360?

Answers:    Well to maintain it simple you really want the highest number possible. A lower number approaching say 500:1 mode you might have to be contained by a darker room and the imagery will not be as as crisp and bright as they would be on a 1000:1 unit.
The three things you want contained by a LCD screen is a large contrast number, A fast responce time resembling 5ms, and look for the 720p, 1080p not the 720i or 1080i. the "p" basicly means the complete picture refrehes at once and not line by column. I am researching one myself.
Hope that helps.
