What is better a plasma or lcd or hdtv?

my grandapa is getting a new 42" tv and of course im happy im 14 and im in love with tv so i want to know.he says that i get to choose but yet i dont know what one to get.

Answer:
Get Plasma for:
Movies, TV

Get LCD for
Games, computer

The above are simple guide to what you should get.
If you spend the "MOST" time watching TV, then get the Plasma. If you spend the most time playing with the computer then get the LCD.

Here is why:
Plasma has a better picture, black and better viewing angles. But burn in which static images is displayed for prolong periods.

LCD has slower refresh rate, but great for static images so great for playing games and computers.

GL.
The plasma typically has a faster refresh on the screee\n, so it's better for games.
Lcd is better. You can hook up your computer to it. Way better for games. You don't have to worry about burn in, which is a major problem for plasma tv's, especially if you're a gamer. My friend bought a 42" plasma. playstation burned a permanent frame around the screen. He tried to take it back, its not covered under the warranty. So my recommendations is go with the Lcd. The only thing that plasmas are better with is poor quality signals, like vcr, or attena. But if you stick with high def signals like dvd, and high def satelitte you'll be fine.
Actually hd tv is not a tv itself its a high definition tuner which is provided in a tv n then that tv is called hd tv.So v can say that a plasma is hdtv if the resolution is 1920x1080 n same for LCD.
Now as u r lookin to buy one of the plasma or lcd, here r the main differences,
Plasma:
They have faster response time.Wat is response time? Its the refresh rate of a tv..Like if u r watchin a movie with fast motions it will give a better clarity in plasma tv.
They r of almost the same size as LCD.
They have Wide viewing angle
They r better even when viewed in dark room.
LCD
They have lesser response rate.
They are really good in bright areas, otherwise in dark rooms the picture becomes grey for black regions.
And picture is a little better than plasma provided the room is properly lit.
The viewing angles r shorter than plasma tv.
And the best thing abt LCD tv is u can get 1920x1080 resolution in 42 inch however that is not the case of plasma tv yet.Plasma tv larger than 50 inch has that resolution.
I hope this is enough for more info you can check this site.

First of all, you must have an HD( high definition) signal, either from High definition cable-box, or HD satellite receiver. Do not get a TV that is HD READY, because they have no built in tuner. Make sure it's HD compatible, that is, the HD tuner is built in. I studied this very thing for 2-3 weeks before I found that LCD was the best tecnology for High-Definition. Then I founf that Sony had the best LCD on the market, and not really expensive. I would get the 42" Sony Bravia LCD HDTV. It has the best looking , natural colored picture on it than many that cost a lot more. The Sony company got out of the Plasma & DLP technology a while ago now, because they knew that LCD would be the one that would be the most dependable & issue free. The best of luck in your choice.
