Which Television would you choose?

Ok, so you’ve got a budget of £500 (which isn’t that much in the TV buying world but if you search around you can find some good deals). Baring in mind your limited price range, would you go for:

A – A brand no-one has heard of but with a really HUGE screen size?

B – A well known brand but with a much smaller screen size?

Answer:
To be honest, it's not just the, "Who are they?" brands that are to be avoided. Some well known household names produce rubbish, too. A few manufacturers to steer clear of are:

Alba
Akai
Akito
Akura
AOC
Atec
Beko
Beond
Bush
Cello
Compacks
Crown
Cyberhome
Daewoo
Dansai
Deccacolour
DiBoss
DM-Tech
Digihome
Digilogic
Digix
Erae
Ferguson
Finlux
Funai
Fusion
Goodmans
Grundig
H&B
Hanspree
Harwa
Hikona
HiSense

I'd go for quality - B.& not quantity - A
I'd go for a well known brand. I've bought loads of 'cheap' electronics - like £20 DVD players - and they just don't last.

Look out for 'managers specials' and ex-demo models if you are on a budget. But for £500 you should be able to get a branded 32" or better from the web...
brand! try pricerunner.co.uk for the best price including delivery
You should be able to get a 21" TV for less than £500 its a nice size and in your price range, you might not be able to get a HDTV for that amount though, which lets be honest you might as well get one instead of buying a normal TV now and forking out again for the HD one in a few years time.
i would go for the brand I've heard of, that way i new it was a good TV..
L G do a great range of tvs and internet prices
should provide a very attractive deal
well I"LL go with "B" of course, you don't know where does the "A no-name" come from. And of course don't buy a "B with-name" that you'll use just for an hour...
If you want a wide screen but "no-name" you have to ask the dealer first.( but? is there any one want to sell a tv with a wide screen, for a low costs?)
A - even its small you know it is good
B - its unknown, wether its good or just for an hour...
(common sence)
Personally I prefer quality so I would purchase an option B set.
Try SONY WEGA
I'd go with a well known brand, at least you can sleep at night knowing that if your TV busts up you can call customer services
Whichever one I bought, I'd make sure a 5 year warranty was included. I work for an electrical retailer, and we only sell high-end TVs. The number of people who think that buying a big brand name means their TV is not going to break down is horrifying.

Last week we had a man phone up saying that the plasma TV we'd sold him 13 months ago had broken, and he wanted a replacement. We checked our records, and he hadn't taken out the optional extended warranty, so the TV was only covered for 12 months. He's £3000 out of pocket, and there's nothing he can do about it.

A cheap TV can be as good as a high-end one, but it is more likely to break down. Buy the cheap one if it looks good, but budget for a warranty.
