How do you connect a Freeview box to a TV that has no scart lead socket?
Answer:
If you have a video then you should connect your Freeview box via that, as others have suggested. If you don't have a video, then this is what you should do. Connect your aerial to your Freeview box via the RF in socket at the back. Connect a co-axial cable (which is the usual connecting cable) to the RF out socket on the back of the Freeview box. Then connect the other end of the co-axial cable to the aerial socket on the TV. The RF sockets will be labelled and each cable will only go in one way, so you can't put the leads in the wrong places. Find a spare, unused TV channel and tune that in to your Freeview box. Then get your Freeview box to auto-scan for channels. The instruction manual for your Freeview box will tell you how to do this. If you need any further advice, feel free to contact me via this site. Hope this helps, and good luck!
conect it through a video or dvd first and then to the tv using an ordinary RF cable
woooooooooooooooooah a tv with out a scart socket that brinsg back memorys how old is this tv lol
You Can't
Hasn't it got an RF socket?
You can either connect to the video as a previous answer suggests or if your freeview box has a coaxial (normal tv aerial) output (alot have) you can connect using that.
Or if you tv has video inputs - although if it has no scart its probably too old to have those - you can get a lead with a scart on one end and video leads on the other.
I would guess the video option is the best for you though
You'll need a Freeview box with an RF "modulator" output.
But please do not confuse this with an RF "feedthrough" connection that most set-top boxes have - this simply feeds the aerial signal through to a VCR or DVD recorder.
An RF "modulator" generates the signal necessary for connecting the box directly to the TV's aerial input and eliminates the need for a Scart input on a television.
Once upon a time there were many boxes on the market with this type of connection but unfortunately they are now few and far between.
