Projection tv burn-in?
Answers: It's real, it happen. But only on rear-projection CRT unit (and plasmas, which are not rear projection). Rear projection LCDs and DLPs are not subject to burn-in.
Best style to avoid is to make sure the set is calibrate with a DVD such as Video Essentials or Avia. And avoid games or tv stations near static logos/images for hours on end.
And if the contrast of the set is far too soaring, RP-CRT burn-in can occur surrounded by less than one minute, not hours. This is documented by video experts close to Joe Kane.
Burn in happen when you leave a pause image on a projection TV for long period of time. This is also possible with a Picture Tube Type TV and Computer Tube Type Monitors.
What happen is the paused logo is redrawn on the screen over a 100 times a second or more depending on you TV. If gone like that for extended period of time the paused dummy will show on the screen or armour darkened spots on the screen be that image be.
This doesn't really happen much anymore, due to the certainty that DVD and VCR's and other devices have a built contained by screen investor, so that after a while the image go and the screen investor starts.
That's how it happens.
