I spend 8+ hours a day watching adjectives makes/models and display technologies showing 1080p at work, so i hold some real experience here.
Note first of adjectives that 1080p resolution is only indispensable if you are purchasing a television larger than 50in (it seem like you aren't) or if you plan on sitting 4 1/2 foot from the screen. Otherwise your eye won't be capable of discern the increased pixel count at optimal viewing distances.
Also, the single most important factor within laboratory tests of people's discernable picture power preferences is contrast ratio, which is why retailers such as Best Buy and Circuit City always artifically increase the brightness and contrast of their television (particuarly large-ticket items).
BUT....
For video gaming an LCD with a 120hz response rate may be the best because of your facility to see higher standard detail with extremely nippy motion.
BOTH technologies can be connected to a computer, but the peak burn-in issue keep some away from doing this.
Plasma win of course next to regard to black horizontal and overall contrast (and color gamut), but this newest LCD technology is better for gaming.
Other factor you may want to consider:
-Plasma has a reputation for eyeshade burn-in/latent images ( like greased lightning becoming a non-issue and I've never experienced this, though some report watching news next to ticker can give you problems)
-LCD have much shallower viewing angle so guest seated off the center axis may see color or brightness shift
-LCD is typically better surrounded by bright sunlight because of its matte screen finish, though Plasma's brighter screen usually make up for this discrepancy

For my money I'd turn with plasma, but again it depends on what your preferences are.
