Whats the best distance from a 40" HDTV?

Hey I have a 40" T.V In my bedroom.. yes my bedroom.

Its a 40" Samsung 1080p hdtv and I want to know how lots feet is for proper viewing distance... Currently I might surmise about moving it wager on since im like 6 foot away from the T.V

Answers:    Using the old standard of 3 times the diagonal length you should be back 10 foot, 40in x 3 = 120in / 12in = 10ft but with the brand new HDTV I think explicitly to far away and I would recommend 2 times the diagonal measurement 80in / 12in = 6.67ft, so I would recommend 6 to 8 foot back. Less may be too close and more than 8ft starts amputation from the big screen experience. I'm just about 10ft from my 61in HDTV, and love it.
If it is a 40" widescreen TV then 6ft is roughly right.
