Answers: I never saw a VCR that could be programmed to PLAY at specific time but of course adjectives the VCRs could and still can be programmed to record at specific times also select channel to record contained by sequence . To the contrary Jame VCRs are now more sophisticated useing a reduced amount of parts , I would concede however that engineering quality have taken a nose dive next to mass production !

I used to have one, long, long ago. Don't remember the brand, but the point is moot.
VCRs are a uncommon breed these days, and most of the ones still individual produced, are pretty basic. I hope that someone else is competent to give you better communication.
