What's the smallest HDTV without losing quality? 480p/720p/1080i?
Answer:
actually, the smaller the screen the better it looks. This has been the case for TV since its inception.
You are confused in that a pixel is not a unit of measure, but the smallest component of an image. Thus you could have 1 inch dispay with all 1080 lines of resolution. The pixels would be very very small.
Imagine a pixel as writing words on a grain of rice. The grain of rice is the display medium, the individual letters are the 'pixels'. you can make the letters as small as you want.
I have a widescreen HDTV it is 32" and looks just as good as all the big plasma ones i would say the smallest you should go is 27"
your question doesn't make any sense. To receive a 1080i signal without losing any pixels, you will need to have a tv with resolution of 1920 x 1080, for 720p you will need 1280 x 720..
It doesn't make any difference what size it is. You can buy a 60" or larger HDTV that doesn't support all 1920 x 1080 pixels. So anyone who answers this, is simply going to be giving their opinion about what size you should get. You should expect nothing more..
The size in inches has nothing to do with losing pixels. 480 means there will be 480 lines, 720 means there will be 720 lines, and so on. So a 13in 480p will have the exact same number of pixels as a 130in 480p.
Also I dont think 480p is technically considered HD, thats why there is a 720p. A standard def TV can display in 480p using progressive scanning (thats what the p means).
Its a whole different situation if you have a 480p/720p/1080i TV and are getting a signal in a different format, but I dont think that is what you were asking.
