Is there a big difference on a 720p HDTV and a 1080p HDTV?
Answer:
easy way to put it:
720p>1080i
1080P>720P
Personally I would not get a 1080 anything for a few reasons:
1. not enough 1080 content out there.
2. if your an average joe, 720p will be eye candy enough for you
3. that 2grand can be better used
ONLY reason I can can see right now for getting a 1080P set is if you are a die hard gamer or movie fanatic that NEEDS bleeding edge graphics, have or are planning to get a PS3/Xbox360, HD/Blu ray player. Keep in mind Blu ray and HD players are the only constant 1080P devices out there. The ps3 and xbox360 are slowly dabbling into 1080p with a small amount of 1080p games out there. The most common format is 720P
Double check the NATIVE RESOLUTION of your old TV..If the Display resolution actually is 720, then upgrading to 1080 is quite a MAJOR DIFFERENCE..I mean you're ADDING 360 LINES of detail to 720 and 360 is HALF OF 720!!
The detail you would see!!
That's why I STARTED with 1080.for maximum detail.
NOW how bad do you THINK you NEED 1080 Pee ? Well 1080 eye is the same as 1080 Pee.same amount of LINES, same amount of Frames per second..
1080P is only for HD-DVD and Blu-Ray DVDs..1080i is all your HD TV stations. They won't go 1080P because TV shows (especially SPORTS/RACING) need 1080i 's ACTION Smoothing capabilities!! And 1080 P removes jaggies from circles, and circular/oval edges! THAT's the ONLY difference!!
So guess what.YOU CAN OWN A TRUE 1080i TV for $800.00 instead of $2500.00 for that 1080P TV!
And get allllllllll the detail for 1/3 the cost...
Pardon me while I laugh the Smart TECH laugh..
Mooohoo hoo hoo ha ha haaaaaaaa!! (repeat 3 more times like Dr Evil does on Austin Power's "The Spy who Shagged Me" )
I'm done.OK, the $800 TV set is a Hitachi CRT Projection TV
MODELS 51F59 57F59 and 65F59, the 51 inch is $800 and the 65 inch tops out at $1500.00
Remember...SAME detail as 1080P and you save at least $1000 !! That enough for a really good Dolby High end amp OR One Good Amp and One Good HD DVD player!!
I got the mid priced amp, I'm going for the $400 Toshiba HDA2 HD-DVD player..It really rates high in my book.
