How do i connect my vcr to my dvd to my direct tv to my tv?
Answer:
Start by connecting your direct tv "out to tv" outlet(using coax cable) to your vcr "input". Then your vcr "output" outlet ( using coax cable again) to your tv. Then test to see if everything works with this hook-up( to record off sat. tv you will have to select channel 3 or 4 on your vcr). You will also be using channel 3 or 4 on the tv as well. Try to use the same channels for both, if you use ch. 3 for the vcr do the same for the tv.
Now hook your dvd output cables (red & white for audio & yellow for video) into your vcr input-red, white & yellow making sure to match each color. In order to have your dvd play you will then take your vcr remote & push the input button, this will make a selection between your tuner (which in your case will be direct tv & your audio/ video inputs.
It sounds confusing at first but as long as you have your remotes in hand you can make the switch back & forth without unhooking cables.
When you get really good at it you can program you direct tv remote to run your tv/sat & vcr.
Another advantage to this hook-up is that you can record off dvd or sat tv.
Good Luck!!
I think what you need is an RF Modulator. They don't cost too much, and they make the hook up easy . Here is the link to see one :

I think Radio shack has them.
