Question about purchasing a new TV?

Unfortunately my old TV finally took a dump on me, so I'm in the market for a new one. I'm looking for a 27'' or larger, but not huge. I'm not being to picky but I'm leaning towards LCD's, I do have a limited budget of around $1000. So if anyone could give me some help on which brand is better than others, which style of TV is better(LCD, Plasma, Projection, DLP). I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Answer:
Plasma and DLP are probably going to be out of your price range but they make some good wide screen LCD's in the 32" size that will probably fit your need. The magnavox is a decent television that is under a $1000. Also, based on price you can probably go with a Westinghouse, Phillips or possibly even Samsung but that might be pushing it. The better brand names are more expensive because of their names and added features/inputs. Look on www.amazon.com for researching different models and sizes. They have great customer feedback and rating systems. Also, if you do buy from there they even have a warranty program.
Vizio is an underrated and competitively priced quality LCD TV. You can check out their TV's at Costco. You can find a 37'' for $800!
this is one of the best LCDs Ive found
