Video game consoles and TV damage?
Answer:
You'll be lucky to find ANY manufacturer making Picture Tube TVs...
Sony Bravia LCDs are the better investment IF you can't find one..
But look for Sony, and Hitachi and Panasonic if you do.all three are the most reliable or long-life TVs out there...
I'd suggest RCA but I hate their circuit designs.makes it hard to repair them.
ALSO, those TVs sound like they CAN BE REPAIRED! If they're Crt Tvs.
Just don't buy any name you haven't heard of for the last 10 years.
Tube televisions are not effected by game consoles from normal use. The damage to tube televisions from console games is caused by removing cables when the television and/or the game system are turned on. These short duration power surges, over time, will reduce the quality of the picture.
Projection televisions and plasma televisions are the only types of TV systems that lose quality by using a game console. LCD screen TVs and tube TVs do not. I highly recommend a Hitachi triple panel LCD (40+ inches) as they are great systems.
So far as I know the only problem caused by game consoles is burn in !this may apply to plasma TV , however the burn in has nothing to do with game consoles per se any stationary pic left on the screen for a while will burn in ! it just takes a lot longer with tube TVs. Your deteriorated picture sounds like standard repair to me.
Reggieman wont be far away so maybe he will give opinion on this as it is more up his alley than mine !.. Cheers Pete
