Why is my Sylvania HDTV w/dvd player showing a blurry picture?

I just bought my first HDTV flat peak tv. It has a built within dvd player. The dvd's shows just approaching I thought an HDTV would show. But that is it. When watching regular tv, I am getting a blurry picture. I am hot to the flat screens. Do I stipulation anything else to make the picture clearer. Oh, I hold regular directv, no high def.

Answers:    It's most promising your SD signal input that is the problem. Get HD service, be it OTA, cable, or satellite and you'll see a world of difference. When you play a DVD, your set (unknown be paid and model - lol) is up-converting 420p to 720p/1080i, unlike your "regular tv" SD signal. You give so little info it's not easy to make solid guesstimates, but it could also be a problem beside your cables! Are you using composite, component, or HDMI?
You problem is NOT adjustment, as suggested by the previous answer. However, "adjustment" may administer you a better picture. Try this simple site for settings: http://www.flat-screen-tv-guide.com/how-...
you need to achieve it "calibrated"
