Why is the picture on virgin media better than Sky at present?
For a couple of days the Sky picture has been quite bad, could it just be the weather? But don't Virgin get some channels from Sky, if so why is the picture on Sky so bad?
I only have Sky freeview.
Answer:
Cable isn't affected by the weather satellite and terrestrial TV are. Satellite more so as it has to go through the cloud deck so electrical storms can completely dissable it. Satellite is also affected by solar weather (e.g. sunspot activity) which has been abnormally high this cycle (12years) and is due to peak, perhaps catastrophically in 2012. If you suffer more than other users in your area consider getting someone out to realign the dish.
The Sky to Virgin link is mostly done by cable and line-of-sight terrestrial links. Satellite links between TV networks are used predominantly for transnational, transcontinental coverage of news, sport and other live broadcasts often using much lower orbits (Sky broadcast satellites are geostationary, ~36,000 km) and more robust receivers than a residential dish.
Most likely the weather. My mum is always complaining the picture from Sky is terrible. we have a crystal clear picture from virgin.
coz they use advance tec
