I am looking for a high quality hd tv what kind should i buy, also is 1080p that much better than 1080i?
Answer:
1080P, 1080i...NO DIFFERENCE.
Well, unless you're buying LCD, DLP, or Plasma..1080P will guarantee its a 1920 x 1080 NATIVE RESOLUTION DISPLAY.
Not a 720 P display.
1080i is the term used for CRTs, 1080P is for Non-CRTs.
You'll never VISUALLY see any difference at normal viewing distances, and you'd have to TRY to see a difference intentionally...
Didn't your mom say something about sitting too close to the TV?
So in all REALITY, as long as the NATIVE RESOLUTION is 1080.there will be no difference.
Just make sure you get plenty of HDMI or the "universal" COMPONENT input connections that you need.
any hd TV such as DLP or Sony do not i repeat do not get a LCD TV
There is a difference between 1080i and 1080p. "i" stands for interlaced and "p" stands for progressive. Both have the same resolution, however 1080i draws the image lines in alternating sequence. 1080p draws images all at once.
Where you notice the difference is where you have fast moving images such as a hockey puck or an explosion in an action movie. 1080i will stuggle to draw the fast image crisply because there is a delay as it draws the alternating lines. 1080p will show no delay as it draws the entire image at once.
Even 720p in some cases produces a crisper image than 1080i.
Do a simply yahoo search on "1080i vs 1080p" amd you will get a much better explination than I can give you.
