Can some one let me know what cables are required to connect a 40"lcd sony. cable box and a dvd player?

Answer:
GET 2 Component CABLES --Same signal quality as
1 HDMI and 1 Component Cable..

HDMI gets converted to Component signal anyways, so why pay more for a HDMI cable when you have 2 Component inputs on your Sony?

The Component Cable is a 5 Wire Cable...2 for Sound, 3 for Picture.
It depends if you have an upconvert dvd player the best route would be to go with hdmi cables. HDMI is a digital cable that does both audio and video and supports both 720p and 1080i and p. If it doesnt have hdmi use component, for you cable box if you have hd subscription use hdmi, but if your cable box doesn't have hdmi use component.
use component cables you can also call your cable company because if your new TV is hd your going to want to trade your old cable box for a hd cable box most cable companies will not charge you for this upgrade and they will provide you with the cables for free i know my company does this
