Buying a TV?

We are planning to buy a new LCD TV. When is a good time to buy? My mom wants a Sony, but what other brands should we look at?
Thanks!

Hi there,

Prices continually go down on HDTV's, so technically, tomorrow is always the best time to buy, except before the winter holidays.

Sony is an excellent brand, but there are indeed several high quality makers out there. Also, depending on what size TV you are looking for, you may want to look at other types of HDTV's in addition to LCD (such as DLP, plasma and projection).

I highly recommend reading the information at both links below. The site collects reviews from numerous sources and makes recommendations based on those.

BTW, I will soon be buying a Panasonic 50" plasma (professional model), because it suits my own personal preferences.
look for sale items on ad like bestbuy and circuit city. sony is really a good brand for its durability. also try sharp, toshiba and samsung.
Sony is a good brand... also panasonic, samsung, lg and pioneer. I'm not sure when it's a good time to buy.. although different stores have their own "sale dates" ..
