I can switch the TV on and off with the remote control, but I can't get a picture apart from the channel number in the top right hand corner. I can't get to the menu or the volume control - nothing. Sometimes the sound comes on followed by a frozen picture after I switch on the TV, but that's all. I've only had this brand new TV for a month. Does anyone know how I fix this problem?

Pull the plug out and then switch on again.
Why don't you try reading the instruction manual? Many people don't like to read these, but they contain useful information that consumers should know.
