The volume on our HD TV disappeared adjectives of sudden...?

...was fine yesterday, and can't hear a entity today. We have cable and we've tried the cable remote, the TV remote, the TV controls...and nought.
However, when we turn on our DVD player, the volume is fine. So, nothing is wrong beside our sound system.
Anything we can do?

Answers:    You can lose SOUND just if your cable box locked up on you....

Unplug the cable box's AC cord for 5 minutes....plug it back contained by and see if the sound returns...

IF NOT....check your TV's remote for an MTS or SAP button...if you accidently set the TV to SAP MODE you won't find sound any except when you're using Video inputs instead of RF channel 3 or any other gully....
if you are not using surround sound check the settings on your cable box.
Are you using a surround nouns system? Check the digital audio cable that goes from the tv to the reciever. Does the audio come out of the tv but not the surround nouns? Make sure that reciever is on digital in for the nouns to work.
