Which is best a LCD small screen or plasma TV?
Answers: OK, this will take somewhat while..... Instead of comparing them side-by-side, I will list the advantages of any.....
LCD's advantages:
- Less power consumption than plasmas
- Less reflective screens (when lights shine on blind or in bright rooms) than plasmas
- No eyeshade burn-in issues.... .EVER!
- Lighter in counterweight than plasmas
Plasma Advantages:
- Deep, rich, blacks... LCD's have somewhat issue with the blackest blacks, but the newer models are much better!
- Bigger blind size for less money than LCD's
- Bigger blind sizes, period! For in a minute, LCD's rarely come contained by sizes greater than 52-58", while plasmas can reach 102"!
- Wider and better viewing angle (LCD is rapid narrowing this gap!)
- Better for dark room settings, generally speaking (again, LCD's are narrowing this gap)
There may be other differences, but these stand out!
My nod would run to LCD, mainly because of the screen-burn issue. Watching any word channel near a streaming ticker at the bottom of the screen can efficiently burn the plasma screen, especially when brand fresh!! Even the "ghost" symbols that some TV channels (eg., CBS) use can potentially inflict screen - burn. Also, technically speaking, plasmas at a snail`s pace grow dimmer over time, although the average life of both LCD and plasma TV's is around 10-20 thousand hours, which process you probably won't notice over the natural life of the TV.
