I've a Toshiba 40H80 Rear projection tv, stuck in 4:3 mode - buttons on the set work for setting up some configuration, but won't fix this problem. You even see the little hand "move" to try (it registers that the hand is trying). I expect that there is some circuit board that has been fried. Can I access this? change it myself? anyone got a free repair manual? I have tried the reset (unplug overnight) - no improvement. Can't try thru the remote cuz my dog ate it...

Without the REMOTE, you can't change SQUAT...
So, Time to have the DOG SQUAT.then throw it away and purchase a NEW REMOTE...
Didja know that the TV station can control the ASPECT ratio on HIGH DEFINITION STATIONS? Well they can.They can set the aspect to 4:3 and you can press the Wide/Aspect button all day long and you can't Force it to 16:9 if they have it in 4:3 mode..
Now on LOW DEFINITION STATIONS they have NO CONTROL over the aspect ratio..
Make sure you cabel/sat box isnt on fixed picture or is set in 4:3.
