Is it advisable to switch stale surge protector??

My big screen TV is connected to the power outlet via a surge protector. After watching TV I cut bad power to the TV completely by turning off the switch on the surge protector because I hear that if the switch is on, a miniscule amount of power is consumed by the TV. Would that harm the TV contained by anyways?

Answers:    If you have a projection or plasma, it is adverse. They go through a cool down process after you turn rotten the power button, so they do not shut off directly. If you do that before the cool down process completes, next you are taking life out of your tv. If it is a dlp next it is very bad for you, your bulb will not last awfully long if you do that.
If you have a plasma or projection, you really inevitability a ups system(surge suppressor with battery-operated backup).
No, this should not cause any damage to the TV other than forgetting what time it is or forgetting your favorite channel.

As for the miniscule amount of power, that is usually the little red neutral on it and even the surge protector uses a little bit of power to hold its light shining. Of course this power is so small, a light bulb on for 1 min is more than 1 month of have your surge protector on.
