Connecting pc to tv!!?

im using the correct cable but my tv just comes up natural not supported.anyone know what his means? weve done everything but nothing seems to work. our lcd tv is brand new our computer is a compaq year old. any suggestions?

Answer:
What connection are you using VGA, DVI, S Video?? email me michalbugno2006@gmail.com
The simple solultion here is check if your PC has an RCA (usually yellow color) Video out, or any plug that mentions Video out. You can connect that to your TV RCA Video In. If none, you can buy a separate card for Video out.
You hook it up to primary or secondary monitor? Go into the display options and see about turning on the secondary monitor.
kindly try the following:

first remove the VGA cable connected to ure TV. on ure PC desktop, right click the mouse, go to 'properties', and then 'settings'. check what is the resolution written (usually in the form 1024 x 768). reduce it to the minimum (usually 800 x 600). restart the PC. once it restores to the normal desktop (ure icons will appear larger), then connect the VGA cable to TV, and switch source on the TV to PC.
