Compatible Plasma?

I am in the process of getting a plasma tv and I happen to come across a brand which says "compatible plasma".What does this mean? is this any different from the HDready Plasma TV?

Answer:
a compatible plasma that has 420 resoulation and component input.

there are 3 things a hd ready tv needs to make it so:=
at least 720 resoulation
digitial input ( hdmi / dvi )
component input

a compatible can recieve the hd signal ( but isn't so good )
i'm really surprrised that you found one!, given the fact that hd ready plasma have fallen in price, go with the hd ready.

Hope this helps wg
To the best of my knowledge, there is not a difference between compatible and HDready.
I am assuming you mean "HD-Compatible" vs "HD-Ready". HD-compatible just means that the TV is capable of receiving a HD signal. It doesn't really tell you much about the native resolution or whether it supports 1080p.

HD-Ready just means pretty much the same thing. It can receive an HD signal, but doesn't tell you much either.

You might see another term, "HD-Capable", which typically implies an HD monitor without an HDTV tuner. Alot of resellers misuse these terms, so I would not worry about these terms. Look at the specs.

When you are shopping for plasmas, just look at native and supported video resolutions.

Cheap = 480p or 854x480 (SD)
Mid-Range = 720p or 1366x768 (HD)
Expensive = 1080p or 1920x1080 (True or Full HD)

Make sure your TV has a built-in HDTV tuner. This will save headaches in the future, when you subscribe to HD cable or satellite.
