Question about a 1997 RCA Big Screen TV?
Answer:
Look in the SETUP or the Video part of the menu for the Convergence adjustments...
IF You can't find it, CHECK all pages of the Menu..
IF you still can't find it.you may have lost communication between the Microprocessor and the Digital Convergence Module..that will require a TV Technician to fix it..
I have not seen the convergence outputs die on this, but I have seen some problems with the Dig Conv Module or the Microprocessor's EEprom..
Your TV is not so badly damaged as to warrant a REPLACEMENT..you'll get off cheaper fixing it...
Although it may be worthwhile trying to fix the picture with the menu controls, or even having a serviceman come and look at it, be prepared for the worst. RCA CRT (i.e., picture-tube)TV's have one of the worst records for repairs of all the brands, according to Consumer Reports. It may be time for a new one. If you want to save money, get a 32" Sanyo CRT TV. I bought one last December for only $300 (Canadian) at a national chain store. The picture is clear and bright, the sound is acceptable, and the TV is lighter in weight than most other TV's of this type. Sanyo has one of the best reliability records of all the brands.
