Will I see a difference between a 1080i and 1080p on a LCD HDTV 37" or less siting about 5 to 10 feet away?

Answer:
If your TV is full HD than most of the people won't be able to see it. Different matter if the screen is not full HD it can't support 1080p and the 1080i will downscale to fit your screen max resolution.
Probably not. You may be able to see the difference on a bigger tv like 55" or more.
The only way to get 1080p right now is with blueray. From that close you will definitely be able to see a difference. 1080p has more than twice the amount of lines on it any particular time than 1080i. Take care.
