HDTV but no hdmi?
Answer:
As long as it has a component input, you will still get a reasonably clear pix. You won't get 1080i, though. 720p is the best that p.o.s. can do. HDMI is an all digital interface that transports uncompressed high definition video DIGITALLY along with audio and a couple of other goodies. Component, which is what that Maggotbox uses, will still get you a decent picture.
It sounds pretty good for what you said your requirements are. The TV is basically an upgraded computer monitor. It has a 16ms response on the LCD instead of 8ms. It may make some extremely fast motion look a little blurred, but not bad. It has a built in analog tuner which means you could watch over the air broadcasts, or basic cable. If you have digital cable you would need an extra cable box.
The set is limited on being able to receive actual HD signals. You would need a separate box if you wanted to watch any HD TV shows. The HDMI is the HD input for cable or satellite signal. It has both video and audio signals.
To boil it down it is a high end game monitor, it plays analog tv and standard DVD (not HDTV). It is a low end HDTV Ready tv with limited connection capability. It is really a computer monitor with a built in DVD player.
Its a POS Magnavox/Phillips, just as Bad as a Samsung.
