Problems with scheduled DVD recordings?
I am having trouble getting picture when recording when the TV is off. When i record while i am watching TV it works but when i schedule the recording and the TV is off ...when i play the DVD instead of seeing the program i see a box on the TV that says
DVI ALERT Your HDTV does not support HDCP. Please use the YPrPb component to watch TV.
Although i do get audio from what i am recording.
I have a Samsung HD DLP and a Panasonic DMR-20s DVD recorder. I have IO digital cable with a HD STB.
My connections are
1. RF to STB
2. HDMI STB to TV
3. Composite red white yellow from STB to DMR-20
4. Component and Composite audio from DMR-20 to TV
I just don't get why it records fine when the TV is on but when the TV's off (Scheduled recording) i get no picture.
Its not the DVD recorder because its recording 2 hours of that stupid error box with the Audio from the program.
Any suggestions on how i can get picture ?
thanks
Answer:
Sounds like your DVD recorder gets its signal off the TV (its tuner). If the TV is off, there is no signal to record.
You might be able to get a separate tuner for the DVD recorder.
I would try, whether I could have the TV on, and the picture off (to save the light source)
