Freeview - house behind big building, what to recomment?
How do aerials work? if i get a digital aerial, does it point at a Satellite? or does only a dish point at them? would you recommend me getting a cheap sky box and dish 2nd hand and putting it on the wall to get the sky freeview pack? or if i just get my standard aerial off the roof converted to a digital will that do any better?
Answer:
get a satellite dish a sky digibox and a freeview card, Tesco will make no difference as you can nearly always get a signal from satellite, £149 for the equipment..installed and a one off payment of £20 for the card..
An old analogue Ariel is no good for digital free view so you will have to change it to a high powered digital aerial and probally a signal booster box. Alternatively move or buy a JCB and knock down Tesco's.
You need unobstructed paths on both,( which ever system you select) - freeview aerial to the nearest transmitter, or satellite dish to the satellite. So, first you will need to work out if you can do either. As a rough guide, you can look at other aerials/satellite dishes in neighbouring houses, to see where they are directed.
Move house!
contact aerial rigger to confirm how good your signal is for digital.to get digital the aerial points at the local transmitter.
