Viewing laptop on TV screen?

What kind of wire(s) does one need to just view what is on your screen on your laptop...on your TV?

What I mean is, a wire that you can plug into your TV and your laptop so that what you are doing on your laptop can be seen on a TV screen. Not watching TV...

Answer:
You can do it, but the picture will not be something that you will like.
If your laptop came with an s-video out slot, then that would be your best bet. If you do not have an s-video out then you might have a vga out. If you have neither of those your pretty much out of luck.

Depending on your motherboard, you might be able to replace your graphics card with a card that has a s-video out, or even Dvi(although unlikely)
