Why is the television ringing and no one else besides me hears it?
(But why am I the only one who hears it? I listen to music on an iPod, and it tends to be loud music...could that be a connection?)

Women have better hearing in the HI FREQUENCY range.
I've had female customers complain about ringing while their husbands and I sit there trying to even get one "PEEP" out of it..
I've learned to use the Female ear while probing the Horizontal and the Power circuits for vibrating coils and transformers..
So..you get a SQUEAK when you change channels eh?
LIKELY FAULT is the Horizontal coils, as you UNLOCK the circuit during a channel change...
Get a Tech to replace ALL the coils in the HORIZONTAL.
Of course, I'd just start with the Horiz Linearity coil.that's the MOST COMMON squeaker in many brands..
Maybe there's a problem with your ear drums. Go to a doctor and explain the situation.
