I own an 720P 1080i HDTV, which mode is best to be surrounded by...720p or 1080i? What is the difference?

Sometimes I see pixelation when watching fast step sporting events on the tv and I'm curious if I should switch it to a different mode. Also, I want the best picture that I can get and if I'm not viewing my TV at it's optimal performance consequently I would like to enjoy an idea of how to maximize it's potential.

Answers:    1080i, minus getting overly technical it's a greater resolution. If your TV is set up for both you may get more vivacity out of it in 720p though.
I would patently go near 1080i. My TV is in 1080i (ALL 1080i tvs can make picture resolutions at lower qualities such as 720p). It is much better for sports as economically. I noticed that sports surrounded by 720p are worse because it does blur and pixelate more slightly. To be technical roughly speaking it, 1080 has twice the framerate of 720p.
