What's up with my TV?

The center of the picture is a big black box except A. When I am playing a DVD, which work fine or B. Immediately after the TV comes on or right after changing channels. Then I get a complete picture for about 10 seconds. It did this once before, about 3 months ago, but the problem went away after a few days.
