It is an rear projection big screen, it was used when I brought it in 2004 from a rental center. I believe it was 4 years old then. In the last month the screen has started rolling when you turn the tv on, but would stop within about 30 min., now it continually rolling and won't stop. Can it be repaired and what is the cause of this problem.

It can be fixed but it won't be cheep. The vertical sync is bad. Try stomping on the floor or hitting the top of the TV. Some times its a loose connection. I'm not sure how much it will cost but it could be around $300-$350 US. I would check the vertical out put I.C. for loose connections or replacement. They will probably just replace the board.
