What is a tv convergence?

Answer:
You must have a HD projection TV. That is when the group of 4 colours are combined or converged to bring an ideal picture to you.
It most notably refers to three gun CRT projection and rear projection TV where the images from the three CRTs must very accurately "converged" to display the images of the three colors (red/green/blue) in exactly the same spot(s) through out the image. Earlier sets had one to five convergence points that could be set by the consumer where as newer HD models had many more, to allow more accurate convergence. Some model had an "auto-converge" function that used a b/w camera to see and adjust the convergence. Often times this provided a good starting point, but finishing it up by eye usually yielded better results. With the use of DLP and LCD chips and the color wheel in the newest generation of TV convergence has become less of an issue although in three chip sets it's still a concern, though not generally adjustable by the end user.
Its where three separate pictures are overlaid accurately on top of each other so that you only see one picture. ! That applies to any make or type of TV.
