Why are my video games delayed a split second on my new LCD widescreen TV?

I just got a lcd widescreen TV but my ps2 games are delayed a split second on it. is there some setting on the tv i need to change or something?

Answer:
because of the higher Resolution, the games get delayed. all you have to do is to set the LCD to the same resolution as the games
what do u mean by "delayed a split second"??
or do u mean by when u press a button, and after a split sec only it'll response..??
maybe the resolution between your ps2 n TV arent compatible.
try changing the resolution settings
I heard that playing videos on a wide screen can damage it ! But if your T.V. is set up to plug in game then you may want to check the owners manual or ask at the store where you bought it just to be sure ! I think they make the T.V. 's "game ready " but don't tell you it's bad , so you will have to buy a new one in a year . It is a conspiracy !
Well there are to reasons if ur in hd witch needs more time for best quality and it could be the consel is instilizeing
