How can i adjust the vertical on philips/magnavox tv?

I can't see the top of the tv screen when scores are shown while watching sports. the top of the screen needs to be lowered so i can view the score and time of the game. is there an adjustment that can be made without taking it to a tv repair shop?

Today's TV's don't have any user adjustable controls for screen size. You can take the back off and look for the size controls on the main circuit board, they may be marked. Vert. Height is the one you're looking for. Be very careful, there are thousands of volts running around inside a TV. It may not cost very much to have a TV shop adjust it, call one and ask.
If it's a wide screen (like HDTVs) then you may just need to change the picture size in the screen mode menu. If not, then you will have to have a service tech do it. It's too dangerous to mess around with anything inside. If it's a newer set, then the adjustment is done in the service menu which you don't have access to.
