Sony HDTV Tuner ?'s?
All my other inputs work fine (HDMI, S-Video and DVI.What are my options? I don't have a cable box nor will I pay to have one.
Could I purchase an external HD receiver and run it from my analog cable to the tv via HDMI? All help will be greatly appreciated.
Answer:
500 just for the tuner?
I think even for the complete board is not going to be that expensive. Some one try to trick you.
Yes the STB (set top box) will help you, and it can connect directly through component or HDMI.
You will need an ATSC tuner. I'm assuming you were using a terrestrial antenna for local transmissions. Here's a good example of what you need...

That should work, assuming the tuner was working at one time and you were getting HD stations with it, the external HD tuner will pick them up too and ouput them to the HDMI output and on to your TV's HDMI input.
I was just looking around at various sites, and I found external HD receivers in all makes & sizes, even some that will take an analog signal & make it compatible for digital/HD. These were at Best Price.com(search for HD External receivers), or go to Circuit City & do the same. I think you can make that work for your TV. These tuners/receivers are like $ 300, some lower than that by $100.
