Why does merely one headset works beside my tv?

I have a bit tv in my room and would love if I could use headset. but when I plug them in I can solitary hear the sound from one ear...wtf??

Answers:    Your TV set does not own the STEREO plug like your MP3 have.....

It only have a MONO jack and that's why only one headset works....

Isn't that just Suck-O-riffic of them to install a MONO jack, instead of electric wiring it for Stereo ?
Need new headset. The other ones are bad.
