Will freeview(digital tv) improve quality of analogue TV?

I just moved into a new apartment and the aerial on the roof doesn't seem to be great. Currently i just have the five basic channels and i get a picture with patterning and ghosting. I was just wondering whether buying one of them freeview boxes would increase the quality of the picture.
Thank you

Answer:
Yes the picture is much clearer but you have to make sure you can get a clear signal, otherwise the picture goes 'blocky' and you have to try to re-arrange the arial you've plugged into the TV. My freeview box only cost £24 from Tesco and it's great. Check the freeview website to see if you are in the catchment area before you buy 'cos some areas can't get it.
You will need a better aerial to get Freeview reception at all.
