I can honestly agree that RCA are P.O.S., I have a 50" not working in 7 of last 9 months and their customer service are liars. I bought a SONY 60" 3 weeks ago and I'm on cloud nine!
The fact that SONY develops it own technology like sxrd versus dlp speaks volumes about the company. Plus their warranty on parts are twice as long as Sammy's. Like you I was down to the Sammy and Sony at first but after reading reviews from buyers like at Circuit City and others, rarely do you find bad reviews on Sony compared to others!!
Samsung..they seem better
Samsung,Phillips/Magnavox,RCA,... are THE WORST brands out there.
As a technician, and owning a TV Repair shop, I wouldnt even want a Samsung even if it was given to me for free.
All of the Samsungs are POS. They might have good features, but were built to last a year and poof.

Mitsubishi
Pioneer
make Quality TVs.
But I prefer a SONY. Built 50x better , Picture its drooling, and it will last me for a loooong time.
