Watching the S video output on TV but not Movies?
Answer:
Many consider Laserdisc to have the highest picture quality available for watching movies. The only downside is that you can't record a Laserdisc. Some speculate that this shortcoming may be the death-knell for the format. If that happens, Betamax will almost certainly win.
Separate video, abbreviated S-Video and also known as Y/C (or erroneously, S-VHS and "super video") is an analog video signal that carries the video data as two separate signals (brightness and color), unlike composite video which carries the entire set of signals in one signal line. S-Video, as most commonly implemented, carries high-bandwidth 480i or 576i resolution video, i.e. standard definition video. It does not carry audio on the same cable.
Open windows media player
Go to Tools options
Go to Performance
Try to find the options regarding video overlays
(usually in Advanced Options under video acceleration)
Try a few options to see what works best for you
Ex. Check: Video Mixing
Uncheck: Use video overlays
Well the DVD movies are not allowing you to VIEW using the S-Video output..that's because you can see the MEDIA player APPEAR on your TV.
Which means the software for your TV card can't convert the DVD signal at all.
You might try to go to the Video card's website and see if you have to run a software download for DVD's...
Sometimes the manufacturer of the Video card is not allowed to include the software to read DVD movies..
Media player may require a software add-on AND the VIDEO CARD also !!
NERO is one that I know of.
Keep that in mind.
