Are networks broadcasting digital signals all the same?

I know about the 2009 evolution, and what not.

From what I read, digital TV is 'better' than analog. I was kinda waiting on getting a converter, but if I know it'd work right off the bat and my signals would be better, I'd move about get one.

So are tv stations broadcasting digitally, as very well as analog now?

Answers:    OH YES! I live surrounded by IL and we have reasonably a few! Each station actually have between 2 and 4 different channels respectively! For example channel 7 have analog 7, digital 7.1, 7.2, 7.3 (which is weather) we use a regular antenna with an HDTV, but if you go and get the converter you would get those channel too!
In palm Springs, CA one station has started..but its packed up that fluently
