Recording from a vcr?
Answer:
There are 2 ways of recording from cable box to vcr. If you're running coax from cable box ("OUT TO TV") to vcr ("IN FROM ANT")then tune your vcr to ch 3 or ch 4 & push record. If you're using your audio & video outputs from your cable box (video -yellow & audio- red & white) then you'll have to select your "VIDEO IN" or "LINE IN" on your vcr using your vcr remote. Easiest way is using coax & then select what ever channel you want to record , you won't get the quality as you would using A/V inputs but it'll get you started.
And you have to watch what ever you record when viewing your digital cable channels.
You have to make sure that you have the "cable in" to the video and "cable out" from the vcr to the tv. and are leaving the vcr on channel 3 or 4 (whichever it is for your vcr) to record the incoming channel. Then you need to make sure your cable box tunes to the proper channel you want to record. You can't use the vcr channel selection.
Need to wire everything in correctly
From the wall
Cable from wall to LINE IN on cable box
LINE OUT from cable box goes to LINE IN on VCR
LINE OUT from VCR to TV INPUT
Use the AUDIO OUT from you VCR to go into the LINE in on the surround sound. Unless you have a TV that has the Audio Outputs and just wire those there. If you wire the surround sound only to the VCR you will have to have the VCR turned on to get the surround sound.
